Hornsby Art Prize Winner Announced

The finalists and their artworks for the Hornsby Art Prize have been selected. 

The judging panel for Hornsby Shire Council’s 2023 Hornsby Art Prize have selected 85 artworks to be put on display at Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre for the public to see. The national competition saw over 600 entries from artists Australia-wide, hoping to win from a prize pool of $23,000.

‘We are delighted to have received such a strong interest in the Hornsby Art Prize. The standards of entries is regarded as being one of the finest in recent memory and all finalists are to be commended,’ says Hornsby Shire Mayor Philip Ruddock. ‘The Hornsby Art Prize provides our residents with a fantastic opportunity to experience contemporary art of the highest calibre first-hand in our local arena and this year people are certainly in for a treat.’

Hornsby Shire Council partnered with the Hornsby Art Society to bring forth this competition, celebrating the talent and creativity of Australian artists.

‘The Hornsby Art Prize is a wonderful way to engage and enthuse the community and we encourage everyone to come along and enjoy this fabulous exhibition,’ says Chris Beard, Hornsby Art Society President.

The Art Prize Winners are set to be announced at an award ceremony on the 20th of October. After which, the exhibition will be on display for the public until the 5th of November.
