Skyscapes, The New Art Exhibition at NSW Parliament House
1 min read

Sydney’s glass skyscrapers are the muse for a new art exhibition.

Throughout September, the free exhibition ‘Skyscapes’ can be found at the Fountain Court of NSW Parliament House, hosted by Minister for Transport Jo Haylen MP.

Louise Beck, a Marrickville-based artist, created over 30 paintings for the display, all inspired by the Sydney’s skyscrapers, and their ability to reflect and distort their surroundings, and the ongoing development of the city. The pieces feature iconic sites such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Manly Ferries, and Sydney’s Centre Point Tower.

‘I wanted to bring the city alive and refresh our perspective on this beautiful city,’ says artist Louise Beck. ‘The result is a fluid, organic and somewhat surreal take on our city. The old and the new are oddly juxtaposed, while cranes loom on the horizon as harbingers of change.’

The exhibition Skyscapes is available at NSW Parliament House, on weekdays, until the 5th of October 2023.

Entry is free, though to view the exhibition online, visit www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/visit/events/Pages/Skyscapes.aspx
