Chatswood Public School are proud to announce the completion of major upgrades, delivering 60 new and upgraded classrooms and state of the art spaces for the children.

The Chatswood community celebrated the new and improved education facilities as member for Willoughby, Tim James, unveiled the upgrades alongside school Principal Alex Montgomery, leaders in education and school infrastructure, excited staff, parents, and students.

“These incredible new facilities will ensure generations of local children to come flourish and our teachers have the resources to give them the very best start in life,” Mr. James said.

The upgrade is just one of the first steps of a $250 million redevelopment of Chatswood Public School and Chatswood High School that was delivered by the previous NSW Liberal and Nationals Government.
Mr. James said, “Every public school in the Willoughby electorate has been upgraded and two new schools were committed to as part of the Liberal’s strong legacy of investment in our future and commitment to quality public education for our next generation.

“Thank you to the teams at the School P&C, Richard Crookes Constructions, School Infrastructure NSW, and the whole school community for building such a brilliant new home for the school.”

Some of the new additions to the school include a new sports court and yarning circle, created to join the impressive new school hall that will become a highlight for the school community as well as the new base for Out of School Hours Care.

New buildings P1 and P2 opened earlier in the year. P1 contains general learning classrooms, three special support classrooms and outdoor learning spaces across seven storeys. Building P2 provides general learning spaces across five storeys, a new library, canteen, staffroom, amenities, and a rooftop soft fall play space with a Ninja course and views across the neighbourhood.

The major upgrades will extend to Chatswood High School and will include more than 150 new and refurbished teaching spaces from Kindergarten to Year 12, increased quality active play space for both schools, specialist teaching facilities such as maths, science and art rooms, dedicated performing arts spaces and music rooms at the high school, new sports facilities and recreational areas, new libraries and administration facilities, new halls and Maker spaces.

Work continues on the major upgrade of Chatswood High School which will be completed in Term 4 this year.
