Our Flavourful Journey at Four Hundred

The search for the perfect social spot for arvo drinks or a classy dinner for two is over.

North Sydney has the new latest hotspot for cocktail and Mexican cuisine lovers, tucked away right next to the bustling Greenwood Hotel.

The interior of the bar and kitchen is a perfect blend of warm Boho natural elements in the furniture, mixed with a refined industrial feel, making it a perfect place to unwind in chic style.

Four Hundred’s name is inspired by the Aztec legend of Mayahual, the goddess of Agave, who gave birth to four hundred rabbits. Safe to say, these little critters didn’t mind the taste of Pulque (the first form of Tequila), and these furry creatures were known for their unique drinking personalities. It's no wonder that Four Hundred has attracted a similar crowd of pleasure-seeking Sydneysiders.

Heavily influenced by bold Peruvian, Spanish, Argentinian and Cuban flavours, diners immediately catch the desired relaxed vibe and let their hair down, similar to those four hundred rabbits.

But be warned, deciding what to order from their extensive menu is going to be a tough nut to crack. With so many mouth-watering options, your taste buds and brain are going to do some serious cartwheels. The Post recently attended for lunch and landed on a few tempting options.

We ordered the Chicken Barbacoa tacos and El Cerdo, which were both larger than anticipated but did not compromise on flavour. The Chicken tacos put a spin on BBQ chicken, delicately dressed with deep colours and garnishing of Aji Verde, Pico de Gallo, Baby Gem, and chilli threads. The El Cerdo puts a lively spin on roast pork belly, sprinkled with a fiery touch of jalapeños, daikon pickles, tomato ketchup and fan-favourite pork crackling to tempt you even further.

The presentation of both these plates was stunning. Squeeze fresh lime over the top and instantly become transported to a summery, beachy vibe.

We also tried the Yucatan bowl, which was pure flavour and a bowl of body goodness. Kale, roasted yams, charred corn, coriander, puffed quinoa, avocado, spiced pepitas, and grapefruit agave vinaigrette. Trust us; ordering this one alone will satisfy your taste buds. Lastly, we couldn't resist trying out their Chilli fries. Personally, I love it when bars and restaurants nail the simple things; it sets up solid expectations, and these golden chips do just that.

With warm days and long nights hitting our doorsteps, I highly recommend popping down to Four Hundred in North Sydney, exploring a range of cocktails and taking a stab at some new and exciting flavours.
