Caroline Atkinson: Greens Candidate for Davidson
1 min read

CAROLINE Atkinson has stated she aims to provide a clear first choice among the candidates for Davidson, for protection of the climate, wildlife, and a fairer society.

Caroline Atkinson has lived in St Ives for the last 15 years, and she strongly believes that our wildlife and biodiversity in NSW, and particularly in Davidson, needs immediate protection. “As chair of the Total Environment Centre I know that working with state governments can be effective, whether fighting for koala survival or tackling Sydney’s urban heat” she says.

Caroline says she is motivated to run as a candidate because she has seen the damage development without proper control causes. “As your local member I want to balance the development of much needed housing with green space, schools, roads and public transport” she said.

Caroline says she will oppose the destruction of Davidson’s unique habitat, including the remnants of blue gum forest, by dismantling the land offset scheme and stopping over-reach by developers. “I want a planning charter that empowers residents—not makes us bystanders.”

Caroline has had a career based on improving companies’ environmental and social responsibility. “I understand how businesses can combine being good citizens with making profits. And I know the importance of reining in those who don’t.”
