Ku-ring-gai Council Offers Workshops on Sustainable Living and Cutting Household Costs
1 min read

KU-RING-GAI Council will offer workshops on sustainable living and cutting household costs during June and July.

The workshops are part of the Council’s community education campaign to help residents reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and save money on household bills.

Each workshop will cover a range of cost-saving and sustainable ideas including soap making, renewable energy solutions for homes and businesses and making your own skincare products.

On Saturday 24 June between 3pm and 5pm at the Wildflower Garden a workshop on making soap from scratch is on offer for $20 per person.

Participants will use natural oils and herbal extracts to make the soap and receive a silicone mould and instructions on how to make soap at home.  Natural homemade soap is safe, cheap and easy to make.

On 27 June between 7pm and 8pm residents can join a free webinar with energy expert Adam Corrigan, looking at how to get started with renewable energy options such as solar panels and batteries.

On 29 June between 12.30pm and 1.30pm another free energy savings webinar will be presented for local businesses. Gareth Huxham is an energy consultant who specialises in finding cost-effective opportunities for businesses to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and receive long-term savings on energy bills.

On Sunday 16 July between 10am and 11am the Wildflower Garden will host a workshop on making skincare products. Using natural plant-based and organic ingredients without plastic, participants will create body scrubs, bath soaks or body mists. The workshop costs $15 per person.
