EACH year, the Local Citizen of the Year Awards in Ku-ring-gai recognises the exceptional work of local unsung volunteers and individuals who have demonstrated excellent citizenship and contributed to the betterment of the community.

The aim of these awards is to honour the local legends who have generously given their time and effort to help others and improve the Ku-ring-gai community.

The awards ceremony is held annually on Australia Day, where individuals and organisations are recognised for their contribution to the community.

There are four categories of awards: Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year (16-25 years), Environmental Citizen of the Year (Individual, Organisation, School or Group), and Mayor's Award for an Outstanding Contribution by an Individual or Community Organisation.

“These awards publicly honour some of Ku-ring-gai’s most outstanding citizens”, said Mayor Sam Ngai, who will present the awards on Australia Day next year along with other Ku-ring-gai Councillors.
