Expanded Harbour Foreshore at Blues Point a Step Closer
1 min read

ONE of the most picturesque parks on the foreshore of Sydney Harbour is back in local community ownership, now that official paperwork has now been signed to return compulsorily acquired land to the community and create an uninterrupted harbourside park along Blues Point.

Member for North Shore, Felicity Wilson MP, said that this major step delivered on her commitment to work alongside the community to acquire 1 Henry Lawson Ave from private ownership as an investment in increasing local parklands.

“Up until now, Blues Point has been split in two by private land, so securing this acquisition and finalising this land transfer is a big win for the local community and visitors to the area,” Ms Wilson said.

Ms Wilson said the land at 1 Henry Lawson Avenue is currently home to a dilapidated building which will be demolished to make way for continuous public access along the foreshore while respecting and restoring the heritage of the early 20th-century slipway.

Minister for Planning and Minister for Homes Anthony Roberts said the transfer, which has been almost 40 years in the making, is a great step forward for the community.

This piece of land, along with 34 other parcels of land, will now be transferred into council ownership.
