More than 57 community projects have successfully been chosen for Council’s 2023/24 Community Grants program. Council will distribute a total of $292,000 among the projects in order to boost their budgets.

Two grants were available – Arts and Creativity and Community Development – which attracted over 150 applicants for the 2023/24 period. Projects awarded the Community Development grant involve disability support for school children, sensory integration room for high-needs children, art programs, pride events, seniors support, meal services, self-defence workshops, and multicultural events. Projects awarded the Arts and Creativity grant include live music, women’s choirs, First Nations visual art, exhibitions, theatre, literature, film production, jewellery-making, and storytelling.

‘There are so any wonderful community groups on the Northern Beaches who are striving to improve equality, reduce disadvantage and delivering direct benefits to local people, communities and our environment,’ said Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins. Council is proud to play its part in supporting these organisations and their vital work in our community. We are equally proud to support local creatives within our community.’
