Charity Begins at Home - Volunteering Just Got Easier
1 min read

The Northern Beaches Council has partnered with not-for-profit foundation Be Collective to launch a new platform that aims to centralise volunteers in the Northern Beaches.

The platform makes it easier to sign up and deploy volunteers to areas of greatest community need by streamlining and simplifying the process.

With 13 different services and over 800 volunteers regularly offering their help, the Council offers many different volunteer roles such as Bushcare, Meals on Wheels, Manly Art Gallery & Museum, Aboriginal Site Monitoring, and Community Nurseries to name a few.

Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins said, “We offer a range of opportunities for volunteers to make a difference in our community. Whether you want to volunteer with the environment, community services, arts and culture, or recreation, there are plenty of ways to get involved and help make a difference.”

Mayor Heins explained that the partnership with Be Collective will enable the Council to be more efficient with distributing resources where they are needed most and ensure volunteer details are up to date.

“At Northern Beaches Council, we believe that volunteering is an essential part of building a strong, resilient, and supportive community. By coming together to support one another, we can create a place where everyone feels welcome, valued and connected,” Mayor Heins said.

All Council volunteers are required to join the online platform to enable them to make a difference in the lives of others in the easiest way possible as the platform allows them to discover the best volunteer role for them.

The platform therefore allows people to develop skills, create new social networks, meet like-minded people and be actively engaged in the community as it empowers individuals, enhances organisations and strengthens communities.

“We believe that everyone has something valuable to contribute and we welcome all individuals and groups to get involved and sign up to the program,” said Mayor Heins.
