Locals Councils Win at Government Awards

NORTHERN Beaches Council and Willoughby City Council have won at the NSW Local Government Excellence Awards.

Northern Beaches Council has won the Innovative Leadership Award for the Resilience Strategy “Withstand, Adapt, Thrive” at the recent Local Government Excellence Awards. Council has also received Highly Commended citations for the Forestville Library initiative and the Mona Vale Surf Life Saving Club redevelopment.

‘I know our staff are very committed to achieving better outcomes for our community and these awards acknowledge that,’ said Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins. ‘It’s great that we came best in the field for our Resilience Strategy, which helps our community prepare for current and future challenges… Both the redevelopment of the Mona Vale Surf Club and the Forestville Library 24/7 initiative were outstanding projects.’

Willoughby City Council have been recognised with a Highly Commended Award for their “Hi Neighbours” projects, which encourages residents to established relationships with their neighbours.

‘We are thrilled to be recognised for our efforts and proud that the “Hi Neighbours” project has made a positive difference in our community,’ stated Willoughby Mayor Tanya Taylor. ‘Our goal has always been to work collaboratively with the residents of Willoughby to deliver outstanding outcomes, and this award is a testament to our commitment.’
