More Cycle and Walking Paths for Northern Beaches
1 min read

NORTHERN Beaches Council has received $5.6 million from the NSW Government to help fund new walking and cycling paths to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.

Council has received $3.9 million for a pedestrian and cyclist bridge along Pittwater Road over Manly Creek and $1.7 million for the construction of a footpath through a section of the Mona Vale Strategic Centre.

The funding was provided through Transport NSW’s Get NSW Active program which will provide $39.5 million to 50 councils to deliver projects that will encourage walking and bike riding.

Mayor Heins said Council welcomed the funding and thanked the NSW Government for its financial assistance.

“This will enable important walking and cycling paths to be constructed, particularly along busy Pittwater Road.

“Active transport such as cycling is great for the environment, community health and takes the pressure off our very busy roads in the Northern Beaches.”

Work is scheduled to begin in the 2023/2024 financial year.
