Field of dreams for the Angels

The Kissing Point Angels Baseball Club (KPBC) has recently received a batting cage which is a dream come true for players.

Member for Ku-ring-gai, Alister Henskens SC MP said,

“It’s great to see the batting cage complete which will be used by many excited members of the Kissing Point Angels Baseball Club”.

The club received $50,000 under the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership Program (CBP). They also received a donation from the local community bank for a further $10,000.

The Club has summer competitions for Juniors and also for Seniors. Both typically run from September to March with a break over the Christmas period each year.

Baseball isn’t just for the kids either, there is a winter competition for seniors and a Monday night Masters competition for over 35’s.

KPBC President, Peter Sorrell, commented

“The cage has already had a great effect with retention and recruitment. We have a Division 1 junior team for the first time in 4 years and an A grade team in Seniors for the first time in more than 15 years. We can know offer our members more focused training on all aspects thanks to the cage”.

Dean Castell, Branch Manager, commented “Being able to help make KPBC’s long held dream of a batting cage at their home ground a reality is the sort of support we love being able to provide to our community. Our two Community Bank branches, located at Turramurra and Lindfield, are proud to have given back $2.6m to the community of Ku-ring-gai, and its near surrounds, since we first opened in 2003 – and it is thanks to the people who choose to bank with us that we are able to continue to support local community groups such as KPBC.”

One of the benefits of the cage is that the club can now still have batting practice in wet weather.
