2 min read

Three locals who really do think globally and act locally:

  • John Moratelli
  • Kristina Dodds
  • Juliet Schmidt

John Moratelli, supported by Kristina Dodds and Juliet Schmidt, have come together as local independents to champion the environment in the Sailors Bay Ward in Willoughby – our trees, bushland, parks, foreshores, catchment areas and Middle Harbour.

Our LIFE team believes that the quality of the surrounding environment plays a critical role in everyday lives, our well-being and that of our communit

Each of us has a track record in working towards sustainability, wildlife protection, bush regeneration, waste management, active transport, and we share a love of the great natural assets in our region.

John, Kristina and Juliet are truly independent with no affiliation to any political party. They believe that there is no room for party politics in local government.

Our key areas for action:

  • Protect our trees, greenspace, bushland, waterways and wildlife
  • Drive clean energy initiatives
  • Reduce our community’s ecological footprint
  • Actively oppose the Beaches Link tunnel until the environment is protected by properly considering public transport alternatives
  • Improve transparency and community engagement in council decision making
  • Protect natural and built heritage and community amenity and oppose overdevelopment
  • Revitalise our local shopping centres
  • Facilitate cycling and walking and advocate for improved public transport

Testimonials

“John, Kristina & Juliet are people of their word who are well respected across our community. They have a proven record of success working on local issues and are truly independent and selfless. Vote for John, Kristina and Juliet on December 4”

Councillor Denis Fernandez - Sailors Bay Ward (2017 -2021)

“Global warming is now at a crucial point where we have to act NOW starting with local council. John, Kristina and Juliet have the policies Council needs to lead the way”.

Janet France, Co-founder Sustainable Northbridge, Chair Sustainable Reference Committee WCC,
President MGP community garden, Willoughby Citizen of the year 2017 (joint)

“John has been with WEPA (WIlloughby Environmental Protection Association) for many years. I am delighted that he is now President. He has been heavily involved in researching the Beaches Link Tunnel, which will destroy the Flat Rock Gully bushland which WEPA successfully campaigned to protect many years ago. The serious contamination he has exposed has caused Council to take further action. John also presented to the Parliamentary Inquiry into the Tunnel. I’m very happy to endorse his candidacy”.
Gay Spies, OAM, Vice President, WEPA

“I have known John as a member of the committee of the Castlecrag Progress Association since 2019, during which time I have been President. John's experience as a lawyer, negotiator and member of other committees has been of great value to furthering the objectives of the Association. He would make a great councillor”.
