The Village Chef Celebrates an Anniversary
1 min read

Despite operating since 1961, The Village Chef is celebrating its first anniversary. That is because it was one year ago that this fabulous community organisation, formerly known as Meals on Wheels Ku-ring-gai Hornsby, re-branded as The Village Chef.

Operating under the Meals on Wheels model, The Village Chef cooks an array of delicious, fresh meals in its Turramurra kitchen each day for distribution by their team of committed volunteers. The kitchen is helmed by their very own Village Chef, Tony Lyons, who ensures only the finest ingredients are used and that meals pack the maximum nutrients to help optimise the health of their clients.

And whilst there are a number of meal delivery services in the market now, only the Village Chef offers a range of fresh and frozen meals. And only they can provide the personal touch offered by the volunteers. General Manager of The Village Chef, Alex Kane, stated, “It’s the personal touch that our volunteers provide that sets us apart. Our volunteers are happy to offer a smile and a chat and even a little bit more. It’s not unusual for them to help bring in the mail or put out bins. These are things most of us take for granted but can be a real challenge for people with mobility issues”.

The Village Chef operates in all parts of Northern Sydney excluding the lower north shore and around Manly.
