Female oppositions stand together against Liberal male leadership
1 min read

IT was an unexpected, but uplifting experience to be on my way to meet one candidate, to then bump into two more. Coincidence - all of them are after the same seat!

I was on my way to Gordon Train Station to have a catch up with Karyn Edelstein, Labor Candidate for Davidson, expecting an informative discussion and an opportunity to see her out and about in the community.

I was surprised to see Caroline Atkinson, the Greens Candidate for Davidson, also standing at the steps of Gordon station engaging with locals on their way to the train.

Despite the two women being on opposing sides, they seemed to handle the conflict of picking the same campaigning spot in a way that shows that they are standing to truly represent the community.

I spoke to the two ladies together, listening to their values as a community leader, but overall, I learned that they want to stand together as female leaders, and show the Davidson Community that their way of leadership will give politics back to the community. It will also empower women of the community to stand for parliament in the future.

The Independent Candidate for Davidson, Janine Kitson, also joined our conversation – agreeing with the ideas raised and further emphasising the notion that politicians need to put community first.

Good luck to these ladies, it was wonderful to see you all standing together.
